LONDON, July 24–The USA dressage squad along with the rest of Team USA received their official Olympic and Paralympic uniforms to a resounding vote of approval from athletes for the clothing reminiscent of a byegone sporting era.

Athletes trying on the uniform were talking about how snazzy they looked, no mention of the the political tempest in Washington over where Ralph Lauren, the official outfitter, had the uniforms made–China.

The Olympics open Friday and includes the parade of nations who are participating in the Games.

As an official outfitter of the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams, Ralph Lauren designed Team USA’s official opening and closing ceremony parade uniforms as well as a unique collection of village wear apparel and accessories which embodies the spirit of American athleticism and sportsmanship.

“It’s a privilege to play a part in the London Games and to celebrate the achievements of these premier athletes as they represent our nation on the world’s biggest stage,” said David Lauren, Ralph Lauren’s Executive Vice President of Advertising, Marketing and Corporate Communications.

Drawing on the spirit and history of the Olympic Games and a tradition of refined American style, Ralph Lauren’s 2012 Team USA Opening Ceremony Uniforms feature classic silhouettes of navy and white with pops of red.

The outfits for both men and women are finished with a piece that celebrates the Olympic spirit–a navy beret with red and white stripes and the official U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Team patch and embroidered Big Pony logo.
