LINGEN, Germany, June 10–Patrik Kittel, already named to Sweden’s Olympic team, rode his top horse, Watermill Scandic H.B.C., to victory in the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Dressurfestival Sunday, the first competition of the year for the pair ahead of the London Games less than two months away.
Patrik debuted his new Billy Idol freestyle on the 13-year-old KWPN stallion (Soos Carex x Noraline x Amiral) to score 79.325 per cent.
Great Britain’s Laura Bechtolsheimer and Andretti H were second on 76.450 per cent with Germany’s Anabel Balkenhol on Rubin’s Royal third on 72.750 per cent.
Patrik and Scandic, ranked ninth in the world, won the individual bronze medal at the European Championships last year.
As to his new music, aptly taken from the British rock star specially for the Games in London, he said, “We have to work on it still. It was not like the old freestyle. Before London it has to be better.
“I like the music and the music fits Watermill Scandic.”
