Jim Lewis, the husband of U.S. 5* judge Linda Zang and a popular figure at dressage competitions around the world, has died of an apparent heart attack.

Jim was retired after a successful career as a Thoroughbred trainer in Maryland, one of the leading racing states in America. His daughter is also a trainer.

Jim and Linda, who lived in Annapolis, Maryland, were constant companions at horse shows.

Warm hearted and friendly, Jim commented that he actually liked watching dressage at all levels, even after its most ardent fans lost interest.
