RALEIGH, North Carolina, June 4–Susan Dutta and Currency DC logged a personal best score in winning the Grand Prix Freestyle at the Capital Dressage Classic CDI 3* Saturday night.
Susan of Wellington, Florida, and the 11-year-old Oldenburg gelding scored 71.025 per cent for the victory with local favorite James Kofford and Rhett second on 69.125 per cent and Arlene Page also of Wellington Wild One third on 67.750 per cent.
Susan and Currency have competed successfully on both sides of the Atlantic in the past year and won the Grand Prix Friday.
The ride to music from “Slum Dog Millionaire” was “pretty darn good,” Susan said, despite mistakes in the changes.
The horse was sidelined with an injury last year, but is now “in the right way,” she said.
Since returning to the competition arena early on the Florida winter circuit this year, the combination won in Loxahatchee and placed second at West Palm Beach.
