Valentina Truppa on Chablis at Lipica
LIPICA, Slovenia, May 29–Italy’s Valentina Truppa and Chablis won Europe’s first 2011/2012 World Cup qualifying event Sunday with just over a half percentage point separating the first three finishers.
Valentina and the 14-year-old gelding on which she won team and individual medals at the European Young Rider Championships four years ago before moving into the senior ranks, scored 74.600 per cent. Poland’s Michal Rapcewicz on his Olympic and World Games mount, Randon, was second on 74.075 per cent while Great Britain’s Richard Davison on Hiscox Artemis, last year’s winner of this event, was third on 74.050 per cent.
This event at the Lipica Stud Farm, birthplace of the Lipizzaner horse and which traces its history back to 1580, is the first World Cup qualifier in the Central and Western European Leagues leading to the 2012 Final in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, The Netherlands.
Valentina won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special on Saturday aboard her Eremo del Castegno, the spectacular 10-year-old she has been competing at Grand Prix for the past year, with a score of 71.500 per cent. Switzerland’s Daniel Ramseier on Ferra was second on 68.063 per cent and Italian Susanna Bordone on Dark Surprise was third with 66.083 per cent.
