HERNING, Denmark, Mar. 14–Blue Hors Romanov has been named the Danish Warmblood Stallion of the Year for 2011.

The 11-year-old Blue Hors Romanov is one of the most used sires in Denmark and is largely responsible for the success of Danish Warmbloods dressage horses in recent years.

He was born in 2000 and bred by Mrs Harli Seifert, Germany. He is one of six licensed full brothers, among others are Rubin Royal and Blue Hors Rockefeller.

He has sired 196 graded mares of which almost 70 per cent are main studbook mares. One of his most outstanding offspring is the 2009 world champion for 5-year-old dressage horses, Hønnerups Driver.

He was awarded Princess Benedikte’s Challenge Prize in 2010.

The 2011 prize went to the 20-year-old sire Michellino by Michelangelo/Ulft. Michellino is among the highest ranked dressage sire in the world. He has sired a number of internationally successful dressage horses, including Mistral Højris ridden by Great Britain’s Laura Behctolsheimer.
