WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 18–New footing is being installed in the covered competition and major warm-up arenas at the Jim Brandon Equestrian Center in time for the €100,000 (US$130,000) World Dressage Masters Palm Beach next month.
Wellington Classic Dressage Managing Partner John Flanagan on Friday announced footing sponsorship has been signed with Premier Equestrian and GGT footing to install footing similar to that at the Kentucky Horse Park, venue for last year’s World Equestrian Games, in time for the Mar. 9-11 event.
“We’ve been working on this sponsorship for the past five months,” said Flanagan of a multi-year contract for all of Wellington Classic Dressage’s competitions and venues. “We have reached an agreement to put GGT Footing in the covered arena, warm up ring No. 1 and the 10-minute warm up at the Jim Brandon Center.”
Cynthia Keating, GGT Footing’s U.S. Sales Manager. said: “We have created a custom blend of our footing specifically for the Jim Brandon Center.”
The footing agreement came after the Spring Challenge CDI-W last weekend where the No. 1 warm-up ring had to be closed for most of the competition and riders were allowed to withdraw from other arenas because of concerns about the rain-soaked surfaces.
The 111-acre Brandon Center opened in December 2006 as a multi-use facility.
The highlight of the WDM Palm Beach will be the Grand Prix Freestyle on the night of Friday, Mar. 11.
