The British Equestrian Federation has announced that the British Grooms Association and the Showing Council have joined the 16 independent equestrian bodies as members of the BEF, and the addition of new board members.
The British Grooms Association is a professional membership not-for-profit association, the world’s only professional association for grooms. Its aim is to increase national and international recognition of grooms and the work that they do. The BGA has more than 700 members across all disciplines.
“This is a major step forward for grooms” said Lucy Katan, BGA executive director. “Being invited to join the BEF is further demonstration of the vital role the BGA holds within the industry. We hope that even more grooms will recognize the importance of this development and join their professional association. With the support of the Federation, the BGA can continue to make a real difference for grooms and their employers.”
The Showing Council represents an amalgamation of key showing bodies aimed at ensuring that breeding, welfare, education and health and safety standards are kept high for the benefit of its participants.
The BEF also announced three new members of its Board of Directors, for Marketing and Communications, Participation and the London 2012 Equestrian Legacy.
– Nicki Kavanagh, managing director of The Juniper Company, which specializes in development of commercial, strategic, communications and leadership skills in highly competitive environments.
– Beth Maloney, assistant principal at Oaklands College in Hertfordshire and runs Horses for Courses, a private equine distance learning organization, has worked in the further education and commercial sector and has a background in the equine industry.
– Tracy Wood, a partnet at Ernst and Young, has expertise in the professional services industry helping a wide range of companies and individuals reach their goals.
