WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, Jan. 21–Tina Konyot and Calecto V won the Gold Coast Dressage Association World Cup Qualifying Grand Prix Friday in their first outing since they rode for the United States at last year’s World Equestrian Games.

Tina of Palm City, Florida, and the 13-year-old Danish Warmblood gelding by Come Back II scored 71.745 per cent to beat Sweden’s Tinne Wilhelmson-Silfvén on her WEG mount, Favourit, scoring 71.404 per cent in their first CDI since basing themselves in Florida for the winter circuit. Katherine Bateson-Chandler of Wellington, Florida, and Nartan, team mates of Tina at WEG, placed third on 69.447 per cent.

The Freestyle in the year’s first North American League CDI-W–there are eight total of which three were in the Northeast in 2010, and for 2011 three are scheduled for Palm Beach and two in California.

Shawna Harding of Aiken, South Carolina, and Come On III placed fourth with 68.00 per cent, Canada’s Shannon Dueck and Ayscha were fifth with 65.787 per cent and fellow Canadian Diane Creech on Devon L sixth with 65.277 per cent.

In the North American League that includes Canada and the United States, results from only two qualifiers are needed to win one of the two places reserved for the NAL at the World Cup Final in Leipzig, Germany, April 27-May. 1.

After three three qualifiers in 2010. Susan Dutta of Wellington, Florida, was at the top of the standings with results from two competitions averaging 67.700 per cent. Jan Ebeling of Moorpark, California, has the highest single score of the competitions so far, 74.700 per cent awarded at Saugerties, New York last year.
