STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 19–Isabell Werth on her Olympic mount Satchmo led a German sweep of the Stuttgart German Masters CDI5* Friday, with the top three all scoring above 70 per cent in the Grand Prix.
Isabell and the 16-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 75.745 per cent for first place on the 26th anniversary of the event.
Ulla Salzgeber and Herzruf’s Erbe, an 11-year-old Rhinelander gelding were second on 74.851 per cent and Hubertus Schmidt and the nine-year-old mare, Dark Diamond, third on 72.085 per cent. Dark Diamond is owned by Diamante Farm of Wellington, Florida.
German-based Catherine Haddad on Winyamaro, the reserve combination for the U.S. team at the recent World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, was the best foreign pair, placing fourth on 68.936 per cent.
The 10 top finishers qualified for the freestyle on Saturday.
