Pompadour logoPOMPADOUR, France, July 4–Claudio Castilla Ruiz on Jade de Mv took the Grand Prix and the Grand Prix Special at the Pompadour CDI3*, a further display of Spain’s growing strength heading to the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.

Claudio and Jade de Mv posted a score of 70.625 per cent in the Special  and Germany’s Ellen Bodenkamp and Donner Hit were second on 70.208 per cent, the same order as the Grand Prix a day earlier when the winning score was 68.213 per cent and second place 68.043 per cent.

Spain’s Jose Maria Sanchez Cobos and Fogonero 6 were third in the Special on 66.917 per cent. Great Britain’s Amy Stovold and MacBrian were third in the Grand Prix with 67.957 per cent.

Spain won the Nations Cup at Saumur, France, two months ago and Beatriz Ferrer-Salat on her 9-year-old Delgado were successful in Fritzens-Schindlhof, Austria last week.

Of several non-Europeans, Kenneth Dyrby, who rides for the U.S. but is based in England and Rholex were in ninth place with 63.417 per cent while Australia’s Hayley Beresford, based in Switzerland, placed fourth on Relampago de Retiro, her top horse, with 67.106 per cent and also filled 13th place with Ferra on 64.723 per cent.were 10th with and in the Special on 15th place on 64.426 per cent. Hayley Beresford, based in Switzerland, on Ferra placed fourth with 63.292 per cent.

In the Grand Prix, Hayley and Relampago de Retiro, her top horse, were fourth with 67.106 per cent and also filled 13th place with Ferra on 64.723 per cent. Fellow Aussie Chantal Wigan on Ferero scored 63.702 per cent in 21st place.

Kenneth Dyrby and Nanette were 11th on 65.277 per cent and on Rholex were in 15th place on 64.426 per cent.

Canadians Wendy Christoff on Pfalstaff were marked at 62.681 per cent and 26th place, Cheryl Meisner on Paganini 62.553 per cent in 28th place and on Liebling II 61.617 per cent for 30th place.
