SCHINDLHOF, Austria, June 26–Germany’s Ulla Salzgeber and Herzruf’s Erbe continued their comeback in winning the Grand Prix qualifier for the Freestyle at the Manfred Swarovski Gedächtnis Turnier CDI4* Saturday, only their second international competition since retiring with an injury at Aachen, Germany a year ago.

The German Olympian and the 11-year-old gelding scored 70.596 per cent in only their second international show since Aachen, with fellow German Anja Plönzke on Le Mont d’Or second on 68.979 per cent and Victoria Max Theurer of Austria and Eichendorff third on 68.383 per cent.

The USA’s Catherine Haddad on her Winyamaro placed fifth on 67.957 per cent, with scores that ranged from a high of 70.212 per cent to a low of 65.106 per cent.

Other non-European results included Evi Strasser of Canada on Quantum Tyme 64.596 per cent for eighth place, and Hiroshi Hoketsu of Japan on Whisper on which he was the oldest dressage competitor at the age of 67 at the 2008 Olympics, 63.915 per cent for 10th.
