DEVON, Pennsylvania, Mar. 11–The Devon Horse Show which began in 1896 will be getting 21st century footing developed by Belgian Bart Poels.
The centerpiece Dixon Oval at the show grounds on Main Line Philadelphia is host for the annual Dressage at Devon World Cup qualifying event and premier hunter/jumper competitions. The facility is operated as a foundation to raise funds for charity.
In a major upgrade, the Devon Horse Show and Country Fair contracted with Bart Poels’ Equestrian Services International to refurbish the footing.
The footing to be installed at Devon will be the same type Bart Poels installed at the 2008 Olympic Games in Hong Kong and several jumping and hunter competition arenas at the Palm Beach International International Equestrian Center in Wellington, Florida.
ESI’s Brett Raflowitz said the new footing will be installed before the Devon Horse Show May 27-June 5.
This year’s Dressage at Devon is scheduled for the same week as the dressage competition at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky, Sept. 28-Oct. 3.
