LOXAHATCHEE, Florida, Mar. 5–Tina Konyot showed off an improving, Calecto V, to capture the Grand Prix for the Special at the Palm Beach Dressage Derby Friday.

Tina, of North Stonington Connecticut, and the 12-year-old Danish warmblood stallion came within a whisker of breaking the 70 per cent mark by posting marks of 69.957 per cent with Elisabeth Austin and Olivier who rode in  their first Exquis World Dressage Masters just a month ago, placing second with 68.936 per cent. Canadian Belinda Trussell and Anton were third on 68.638 per cent.

Israel’s Oded Shimoni, competing in a CDI for the first time on the 14-year-old Swedish warmblood gelding Granada, scored 66.218 per cent to post the the first of two scores he needs to obtain the certificate of capability to allow them to compete at the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky in September. Shimoni, based in Wellington, Florida, represented Israel at the 1998 WEG in Rome and at Jerez, Spain in 2002.
