GOTEBORG, Sweden, Feb. 26–Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival rode to victory in the Goteborg Horse Show Grand Prix Friday, putting the Dutch combination on track to finish at the top of the World Cup West European League for the second year in a row.
Adelinde and Parzival were scored 78.255 per cent for the unanimous first place by the five judges, with Sweden’s Patrik Kittel and Watermill Scandic H.B.C. second on 75.404 per cent and Anky van Grunsven and IPS Painted Black placing third with 74.297 per cent.
If Adelinde and Parzival repeat their win in the Grand Prix Musical Freestyle Saturday night in the ninth and final World Cup qualifier in the West European League, they would earn 20 points and finish at the top of the leaderboard for a total of 78 points, three points ahead of Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas also of The Netherlands.
The pair finished at the head of the standings in 2009, but Parzival was scratched the day before the start of the Final at Las Vegas.
