NEUMÜNSTER, Germany, Jan. 13–Clearly determined to win a start in the FEI World Cup Final, Isabell Werth will compete at Neumünster in February, which will be the third straight qualifier since returning to competition after the birth of her baby in October.

Isabell came second in the World Cup class at Mechelen, Belgium last month, following the birth of her son, Frederik, and just days after completing a six-month suspension for the use of a drug in a small tour horse.

Mechelen was the sixth of nine qualifying events in the West European League.

Her Mechelen result put her in 20th place with 17 points in the West European League.

Only 15 riders in the West European League can qualify for the Final.

Also, she is ranked fifth among German riders and the rules allow only three riders from one nation–except for the host country–in the Final that will be held at ‘s-Herogenbosh, The Netherlands, Mar. 25-28.

The four German riders ahead of her are Monica Theodorescu, tied at the top of the leaderboard with 41 points, Matthias Alexander Rath with 35 points, Hubertus Schmidt on 27 and Carola Koppelmann on 24.

Isabell is scheduled to be at the Amsterdam show at the end of this month, followed by Neumünster. The last qualiying event is Gothenburg, Sweden.

She won last year’s Neumünster qualifier with Satchmo, her 2008 Olympic gold medal mount. Monica Theodorescu will also ride at Neumünster with Whisper, the horse which she has competed in all of the World Cup events so far.
