FRANKFURT, Germany, Dec. 19–Great Britain’s Charles Hutton on Merlin Nemorensis won the FEI World Cup for Young Riders “B” Final Saturday.
In the Grand Prix Freestyle, the combination scored 71.600 per cent with the USA’s Kassandra Barteau on GP Raymeister second on 68.650 per cent and France’s Camille Judet Cheret and Mister Grand Champ third on 68.400 per cent.
In her last year of Young Rider competition, the 21-year-old Kassie from Maple Park, Illinois and the 10-year-old Holsteiner stallion owned by Grand Prix Equestrian and Ginna Frantz, rode to music from Blues Brother 2000.
“I am very proud of Raymeister,” Barteau said. “He was super relaxed with the bigger crowd tonight and we had a clean ride. The whole trip has been a great learning experience, I was able to watch the CDI-W Grand Prix and I look forward to watching the A final tomorrow.”
The top seven of the 13 starters in the Young Rider World Cup will compete in the Grand Prix Freestyle Final Sunday to be 2009 champion.
