LONDON, Oct. 13–The six winners of the British Riding Club Championships in 2010 will receive an all-expenses paid trip to the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games in Kentucky next year, the organizers announced Tuesday.

The AmTrust Equine Royal Windsor Horse Show British Riding Club Championships were launched this year to provide riders at the grass-roots level to qualify for the finals. They will be held during the Royal Windsor Horse Show in May 2010 at Windsor Castle, in Queen Elizabeth’s private grounds as they have been for 65 years.

The 2009 competition drew entries from all over Britain. The winners were invited back to Windsor in August to be presented with their trophies from dressage star Laura Bechtolsheimer and jumper rider Ben Maher during the Alltech FEI European Jumping and Dressage Championships.

The six 2010 champions will each win airline flights, ground transportation, hotels, meals and tickets to WEG in Lexington, Kentucky in September. They will be presented with their championship trophies at a special equestrian evening at the Lexington Civic Center.

Qualifying competitions for 2010 are already underway, hosted by individual riding clubs across the United Kingdom. Area finals will whittle the competition to just the top riders from each class, qualifying for the finals at Windsor.

Simon Brooks-Ward, Royal Windsor Horse Show Event Director. said: “We were extremely pleased with the way this brand new competition took off in its first year and are delighted to run it again with continued sponsorship from AmTrust Equine. It offers an exceptional opportunity to ride in the main arena at Royal Windsor Horse Show and, with the chance of a trip of a lifetime to Lexington, I’d urge everyone out there to contact their local Riding Club and find out when the next qualifier is running. We’ll see you at Windsor!”

For both Dressage and Jumping, there are Junior and Senior Classes. Complete details are available at www.rwhs.co.uk, www.amtrustequine.co.uk and www.bhs.org. A list of British Riding Clubs is available at www.britishridingclubs.org.uk
