SYDNEY, Australia, Oct. 2–The 2009 Grand Final of Dressage that brings competitors from all seven states across the vast continent and organizers hope to generate some of the excitement surrounding football finals is scheduled for Oct. 29 to Nov. 1.
The Horseland Australian Dressage Championships promises the “Best of the Best” in the rivalry of 200 horses and 250 riders from the Eastern seaboard states of Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and joined by combinations from Western Australian, South Australian and the island of Tasmanian.
Australian titles will be awarded from Novice through FEI Grand Prix at the Sydney International Equestrian Center.
Thirty combinations, including Olympians Mary Hanna (Tango V), Rachael Sanna (Jaybee Alabaster) and Beijing Olympian and 2009 World Cup Finalist Heath Ryan (Regardez Moi)–will compete in the Hamilton Island Grand Prix.
The Grand Prix is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30 while the Bates Grand Prix Freestyle to Music will be the highlight of the Saturday evening program. Sunday, Nov. 1 features the Australia Prix St Georges Challenge Final and the Grand Prix Special.
Competitions are held both indoors and outdoors each day. A covered grand stand provides shade and shelter while watching competitions in the main outdoor Olympic arena. Over 30 businesses will exhibit their products and services in the Shopping Village.
