WEST PALM BEACH, Florida, May 28–The Oldenburg Horse Breeders’ Society has scheduled two Oldenburg Horse Show and Mare Performance Test events in 2009, one at High Point Hanoverians in Chstertown, Maryland, Sept. 11-13 and at Pollyrich Farm in Solvang, Calif. Sept. 15-16.
The society, a division of the Verband der Züchter des Oldenburger Pferdes (German Oldenburg Verband), said the two events were scheduled following the success of the first ever Oldenburg Horse Show and Mare Performance Test at High Point Hanoverians in 2008.
The shows are open to all Oldenburg registered and breed-approved horses, and the mare performance test, open to Oldenburg registered mares.
The 2008 shows organized by Angela Barilar of High Point Hanoverians, and Mo Swanson of Rolling Stone Farm, consisted of in-hand classes as well as under-saddle German Riding Horse Tests. Champions were named by the judging committee from Germany.
The mare performance test was the start of titles being given to Oldenburg registered mares in North America. The highest award is the “Special Premium” title, the equivalent of the States Premium title in Germany. Following that is Verband’s Premium based on the scores from the performance test and the judgment of the committee.
Information on the events is available at www.oldenburghorse.com under “Clinics and Events.” Details on eligibility and status achievement for mares can be found at www.oldenburghorse.com/Oldbrg-Mares.htm under “Breeding Approval.”
