LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 19–Lisa Lazarus, former in-house counsel for the National Football League based in New York, has been appointed general legal counsel to manage and oversee the legal activities of the International Equestrian Federation.
Lisa, who holds Canadian and U.S. citizenship, moves to the FEI after almost 10 years at the NFL where she was based primarily in New York as in-house counsel and, more recently in London where she was Senior Director of Business Affairs for NFL International. She was Labor Relations Counsel to the NFL Management Council.from 1999 to 2005, representing NFL teams in hundreds of arbitration cases, many of which involved challenges to the NFL’s Substance Abuse Program.
Prior to becoming in-house counsel at the NFL, Lisa was a labor and employment associate at the law firm of Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer & Feld, which acted as outside labor counsel to the NFL. She spent much of her time as a junior lawyer researching issues related to the enforceability of arbitrations in the NFL, particularly involving the Substance Abuse Program.
