Isabell Werth, Anky van Grunsven Lead FEI World Rankings, USA’s Peters & Ravel Move Up to 5th Place

LAUSANNE, Switzerland, May 8–Germany’s Isbaell Werth and her World Cup and Olympic mount Satchmo remained atop the FEI World Dressage Rankings released Friday.

There were no changes in the next three places in the latest monthly rankings to the end of April. The Netherlands’ Anky van Grunsven and Salinero were second, Werth and Warum Nicht third and Adelinde Cornelissen and Parzival of The Netherlands fourth.

The USA’s Steffen Peters and Ravel, victors in the Rolex FEI World Cup in Las Vegas last month, moved up one place to fifth from sixth in March, overtaking van Grunsven and IPS Painted Black who finished third in Las Vegas.

Other World Cup competitors also moving up, Great Britain’s Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris to seventh place from eight and Canada’s Ashley Holzer and Pop Art jumping up two spots to 11th from 13th to overtake Heike Kemmer and Bonaparte of Germany.

Germany’s rising young star Matthias Alexander Rath and Sterntaler-Unicef climbed three places to 13th.

The number of points separating the second through fifth placed riders narrowed considerably, with van Grunsven and Salinero at 2,098 and Peters and Ravel at 2,024.
