FINDLAY, Ohio, Apr. 23–New York Times bestselling author Tami Hoag donated signed copies of her hit horse-themed thriller Dark Horse to the winning dressage team at the Intercollegiate Dressage Association National Championships.

Hoag, an accomplished amateur dressage rider, said she was honored to donate her books to the National Championships. Twelve teams competed, as well as almost 50 individual riders, at the championships held at The University of Findlay in Findlay, Ohio.

Hoag says it’s no mystery that dressage riders work hard and deserve to be recognized, especially intercollegiate riders as they must compete on unfamiliar horses, drawn at random.

“Intercollegiate showing really is a true test of a rider’s ability,” she said. “The rider is only given 10 minutes to become familiar with the horse before they go into the show ring. I admire these riders. I spend countless hours on my horse preparing for a test, so I can only imagine how nerve wracking it must be.”

Hoag is known around the world for her suspense novels  and has 14 New York Times bestselling novels to her name including Alibi Man, Kill the Messenger, Lucky’s Lady, Dust to Dust and Ashes to Ashes. Hoag’s novels Dark Horse and Alibi Man combine her love of horses and writing and take place in the Wellington, Florida equestrian scene.

Hoag is now focusing on her new horse, Rush Hour 4, an 11-year-old Hanoverian gelding that Hoag has just moved up to the Grand Prix level. “He’s green, but he’s gaining confidence every time out,” Hoag said.  “I can ask a little more of him with every test.”

Fans are eager for dressage’s top mystery writer to deliver a new thriller. “Deeper Than The Dead” will be on bookshelves by the end of the year.
