AACHEN, Germany, June 23–The star power of Moorlands Totilas was on full display Wednesday when the World Equestrian Festival CHIO in Aachen announced that Moorlands Totilas will make his first appearance there in two years, since beginning his Grand Prix career.
“Totilas is to compete at the CHIO Aachen,” said a news release from the organizers, describing the black stallion as “most famous horse in the world.”
Aachen is widely regarded as the premier horse show in the world with a permanent dressage stadium with seating for 5,000 spectators.
Ridden by Edward Gal, the 10-year-old Gribaldi son who last competed in the small your at Aachen in 2008, is entered for the Prize of the TESCHINKASSO, on Thursday, July 15, in the MEGGLE Prize on Saturday, July 17 and in the Deutsche Bank Prize, the Dressage Grand Prix of Aachen, on Sunday, July 18.

Other top combinations at Aachen this year include Dutch team mate Adelinde Cornelissen, the leading German rider Isabell Werth and Great Britain’s Laura Bechtolsheimer. The USA’s Steffen Peters and Ravel, who swept all three CDIO competitions at Aachen in 2009, will be in Aachen to support American competitors but is saving the gelding for the U.S. selection trials and the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky.
“Almost all top national and international riders will be competing at the CHIO,” said Show Director Frank Kemperman.
