TRYON, North Carolina, Mar. 9, 2015–The new Tryon International Equestrian Center and Resort in the North Carolina foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains has received approval of the U.S. Equestrian Federation for nine dressage competitions from April through September this year.
The calendar of events is the most ambitious investment in dressage in America since creation of the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington, Florida five years ago. The ownerships groups of GDF and its companion Winter Equestrian Festival are both headed by Mark Bellissimo, who with other investors, is building the Tryon facility. With other investors he has acquired the Colorado Horse Park. Mark also organized the Central Park Horse Show in New York that held its debut dressage and jumping competitions last September to international acclaim.

A full schedule of jumper/hunter shows, including international competitions, has already been announced for the equestrian center that with the resort will cost more than $100 million.
Five competition arenas with world class footing and 500 permanent horse stalls have already been built. Another 500 permanent stables and five arenas, among them a stadium-style venue with 6,000 seats, are scheduled to be built.
A 150-room hotel, resort and spa, an Arnold Palmer-designed golf course and other amenities are planned for the 1,400-acre (566Ha) site.
Dressage competitions during the height of summer are expected to be held in a covered arena already constructed that is easily large enough to hold four full size dressage arenas.
