Anna Kasprzak and Donnperignon took the first step to claim the Danish Chamionship when she won the Grand Prix Friday, the same day the 23-year-old rider and her horse became the top ranked Danish combination and moving into the top 10 in the world for the first time.

Anna and the 14-year-old Finnish Warmblood gelding (Donnerhall x Mozart II79) scored 75.681 per cent with longtime leading Danish combination of Nathalie zu Sayn-Wittgenstein and Digby being the runnerup on 75.085 per cent.

Lone Bang Larsen and Fitou L placed third while Thomas Sigtenbjerggaard and Nintendo were fourth on 73.574 per cent to beat his boss, Andreas Helgstrand on Akeem Foldager that he’s been riding for less than two months in fifth place on 72.511 per cent.

The Grand Prix Special and Freestyle are scheduled for the weekend to determine the champions.

Based on the results of these championships and Nations Cup team competitions later this month, the team will be named to represent Denmark at the European Championships in their homeland at the end of August.

Lars Petersen, the Danish Olympian based in Florida, rode the mare Mariett for the first time outside the United States to place seventh on 69.638 per cent.

Mikala Gundersen, another resident of Florida, was also competing her mount, My Lady, in Europe for the first time and finished in 12th place on 65.511 per cent.
