Selten HW, owned, trained and ridden to U.S. young horse championships by Elizabeth Ball, was sold to Great Britain at the Netherlands’ Equine Elite auction Saturday night for €500,000 ((US$647,000).

Elizabeth of Carlsbad, California, in 2010 completed an historic triple when she rode Selten to victory in the six-year-old United States championships to complete three successive age titles. The American-bred Sandro Hit black stallion, also won the titles for four and five-year-olds.

“I’m incredibly thrilled Selten’s once again made my wildest dreams come true,” she told dressage-news.com.

“I wish his new U.K. owner much continued success with this amazing horse.”

The name of the buyer was not immediately known.

Selten was bred by Irene Hoeflich-Wiederhold of Cape Coral, Florida. who said on facebook: “Selten HW brought me, as his breeder, MANY highlights, this is just another dream come true. Yes, it sure is a “high” in a breeders life”
