BUENOS AIRES, Nov. 22, 2018–João Paulo Dos Santos and Carthago Comando SN led Brazil to a commanding lead Thursday midway through the CDI1* Special Qualifier for the 2019 Pan American Games.
Brazil with a total of 205.765 was in first place after the Prix St. Georges with Chile second on 194.942 and Argentina third on 192.289.
Uruguay started two combinations in the competition in which The top three scores of up to four pairs counted. Ecuador was entered but transportation and quarantine issues led them to drop out ahead of time.
The second stage, Intertmediate 1, is scheduled for Friday in the event in which the top three teams qualify for the Pan Ams in Lima, Peru next July. The Pan Ams are, in turn, a qualifier for two teams for the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The United States qualified at the World Equestrian Games two months ago for Tokyo.
