Martin Richenhagen, the German-American businessman with horse farms in the Atlanta area and in Germany, won an election Wednesday to be the German Federation’s nominee for the presidency of the organization.
The 72-year-old Martin received an absolute majority at the nominating meeting and he will be proposed for election to president scheduled for Nov. 26.
Martin moved to the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta as chairman, chief executive and president of AGCO Corp., the New York Stock Exchange-listed agricultural equipment company from which he retired four years ago. The company was the largest sponsor of the German national equestrian teams through the Fendt brand and was a sponsor of U.S. dressage programs.
He was a rider from his youth and was an international dressage judge until 2017. He was leader of the German dressage team at the 2008 Olympics.
His farm in Germany is at Warendorf, location of the national federation.
He has German and U.S. citizenship.
