DEVON, Pennsylvania, Sept. 27, 2024–The United States 2024 World Cup Final partnership of Kevin Kohmann and Dünensee narrowly won the CDI-W Grand Prix Friday night to launch the 10-event North American series.
Kevin and the 15-year-old Hanoverian gelding scored 69.761% for the victory in the first international competition since the Final in Saudi Arabia last April followed by competitions at Munich, Germany and Rotterdam, Netherlands. He is based in Wellington, Florida at Diamante Farm, the owner of Dünensee.
Canada’s Camille Carier Bergeron on Finnländerin, the 14-year-old Oldenburg mare that she rode on her nation’s team at the Paris Olympics, was runner-up on a personal best 69.435%.
Allison Carmichael of Greenwich, Connecticut and the 14-year-old KWPN gelding Figaro also posted a personal best of 68.630% to place third.
U.S. Olympic team horse Jane to be ridden by Marcus Orlob did not start.
The Freestyle is scheduled for Saturday night to decide points toward qualifying for one of three places awarded to North America for the 2025 Final in Basel, Switzerland next April.
Tina Konyot on the 10-year-old KWPN gelding Grover posted a personal best score of 70.087% to win the CDI3* Grand Prix.
Ali Potasky on the year older Inxs was runner-up on 70.000% in the pair’s first Big Tour competition.
