WAYNE, Illinois, Aug. 24, 2024–Willy Arts and the home-bred Pharaoh DG held off a late championship high score from Michelle Bondy on Sonnenberg’s Paris to become the U.S. four-year-old champion Saturday while at the top end Amy Bradley on Quileute CCW took the Grand Prix title.
Willy of Hanford, California and Pharaoh (Koning DG x Parcival) placed first in the opening four-year-old test on 90.800% but in the final slipped to third on 85.200%.
However, it was enough to claim the championship by 0.08 points over Michelle on Paris that posted a score of 91.200% in the final with an award of 81.600% the first outing.
Michelle rides for Sonnenberg Farm in Sherwood, Oregon.
Charell Garcia of Mountain Green, Utah on MW Virtuous placed third on 86.080%.
Amy Bradley, an amateur rider based in Wellington, Florida, rode Quileute, 14-year-old Oldenburg gelding, to the Grand Prix championship on a total of 67.212 with victories in both the Special and the Freestyle.
Amy first competed Quileute at national levels in 2016 and moved up to international Grand Prix last year.
Karen Lipp of Ball Ground, Georgia on Infinity, 11-year-old KWPN gelding, was reserve champion on 66.813, including winning the Grand Prix.
Petra Warlimont of Evergreen, Colorado on Deaumbulo PWD won the five-year-old championship title on 82.280%.
