At least 10 applications for technical advisor and a developing coach have been received by the U.S. Equestrian Federation with decisions expected about the end of the year.

The successful applicants will be chosen with next summer’s Olympics in Paris and 2028 in Los Angeles as well as the 2026 World Championships in Aachen, Germany as the core features of America’s high performance programs.

The technical advisor and the developing coach will succeed the coaching records created by Robert Dover and Debbie McDonald in the most successful period in U.S. dressage history of team silver at both the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon and the Tokyo Olympics. Robert became technical advisor after the 2012 London Olympics and Debbie McDonald was developing coach and took over as technical advisor when Robert retired after Tryon.

The technical advisor position has been vacant since midway through this year.

Charlotte Bredahl, who succeeded Debbie as developing coach, remains in the position and has offered to stay through to April to support her successor.

If the appointments are made about year’s end they will be in time for the intense Florida and California winter circuits.

Among the prospects for Paris is Steffen Peters on Suppenkasper, 16 years old in 2024, who was on both the 2018 WEG and Tokyo Games teams and is atop the U.S. standings.

Adrienne Lyle on Salvino, 17 years old next year, also on the same two teams, gave birth to her first child two months ago. The combinations has not competed since January.

Sarah Tubman on First Apple on the U.S. gold medal team at the Pan American Games in October as well as competing extensively in Europe in the past two years, is second to Steffen on the Olympic qualifying rankings.
