Suppenkasper moves to top 10 horse in the world as rider Steffen Peters this week seeks to clinch a start in the World Cup Final in Omaha in three months.

Steffen and Suppenkasper, a KWPN stallion that officially became 15 years old on Jan.1,  looks to join Alice Tarjan and the American-bred Serenade who is assured one of three places reserved for North America from among the total World Cup lineup of 18 riders and horses.

Steffen of San Diego, California on Mopsie, as Suppenkasper is nicknamed, has already won two of three required qualifiers for the Omaha Final. The pair was on teams that won silver at the Tokyo Olympics and the 2018 World Equestrian Games as well as helping qualify the U.S. for a team start at the Olympics in Paris in 2024.

If he qualifies for Omaha, it would be the sixth Final for Steffen, one of only two Americans to become World Cup champion which he did on Ravel in Las Vegas in 2009. Debbie McDonald on Brentina was the first, in 2003.

Adrienne Lyle of Wellington, Florida who rode Salvino last month to win her first qualifier for Omaha boosted standings for the rider and horse. She has three more qualifiers at the Global Dressage Festival in Wellington to attempt to get an invitation to Omaha.

Adrienne, on the same medal-winning Olympic and World Games teams as Steffen and Suppenkasper, moved up to 26th in the rider ranking and Salvino, 16-year-old Hanoverian stallion, up to 32nd.

Sarah Tubman also based in Wellington climbed to 36th and her mount, First Apple, to 43rd.

Alice Tarjan of Oldwick, New Jersey, is at No. 44 and Serenade 51st.
