COMPIÈGNE, France, May 21, 2022–Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry rode Glamourdale to a personal best score for the top individual partnership in the CDIO5* Nations Cup Grand Prix Saturday with Sweden taking a commanding lead in the team competition ahead of Spain in second place and Belgium third.
Charlotte and the 11-year-old KWPN stallion scored 79.435%, with two of five judges awarding scores above 80%, to finish ahead of Germany’s Isabell Werth on DSP Quantaz that placed second individually on 76.870%. The result for Charlotte and Glamourdale that won the world championship gold as a seven-year-old and were unbeaten in international Small Tour was in vain for the team competition as Great Britain was eliminated when Fiona Bigwood on Hawtins Delicato retired.
Standings in the second leg of the trans-Atlantic Nations Cup series–the first in Wellington, Florida two months ago did not count as there were not enough teams participating–were:
1. Sweden 10 points; 2. Spain 28; 3. Belgium 32; 4. Portugal 45; 5. United States 52; 6. Switzerland 56; 7. France 58. Elimination of Fiona and Hawtins Delicato and Adelinde Cornelissen on Fleau de Baian eliminated Great Britain and the Netherlands from the Nations Cup as three combinations only competed with no allowance for a drop score.
Patrik Kittel on Touchdown was third individually on 76.043% to lead Sweden to the top of the leaderboard. The two other combinations were the Ramel sisters, Juliette on Buriel K.H. in fourth individually on 75.391% and Antonia on Curiosity eighth on 71.956%.
Jordi Domingo Coll on Esprit Dond D was the top placed combination for Spain with 70.848% for 11th place individually while Larissa Pauluis on Flambeau led Belgium in ninth on 71.543%.
The team competition will be decided by results in the Grand Prix Special and Freestyle:
