MOSCOW, NOV. 21, 2020–Inessa Merkulova and Mister X won the CDI3* Grand Prix Freestyle Saturday for the Russian pair’s fourth straight win this year while Marina Aframeeva on Arums took the Grand Prix Special.
Inessa and the 16-year-old Russian-bred Trakehner gelding were awarded 79.335% for the win, the highest score for a musical performance in more than three years. The combination competed at the 2016 Olympics, 2018 and 2014 World Equestrian Games, five World Cup Finals from 2014 through 2018 and 2015 and 2017 European Championships.
Marina Aframeeva and Arums, 11-year-old Latvian gelding owned by Inessa Merkulova, won the Special on 71.106%.
The Special was the first for the combination since Marina began competing Arums this year. She had ridden the horse at Small Tour in 2016.
