WERRIBEE, Australia, Dec. 8, 2017–Mary Hanna rode her Olympic mount Boogie Woogie to victory in the World Cup Grand Prix Friday, the first competition for the pair since returning home from a summer circuit in Europe.
Mary and the 11-year-old KWPN gelding scored 70.360 per cent in the show that completes a second year at Big Tour and is the last opportunity to earn an invitation to the Pacific/Asia League final in late January to vie for the region’s single starting place at the World Cup Final in Paris next April.
The duo also became the first to log two of three scores required to qualify for selection events for the Australian team for the World Equestrian Games in Tryon, North Carolina next September.
Rozzie Ryan on Jarrah R placed second on 67.240 per cent.
Mary Hanna and Calanta competing at home for the first time were third on 66.960 per cent. The pair showed in Europe along with Boogie Woogie this summer.
