WELLINGTON, Florida, Mar. 25, 2017–Megan Lane and Caravella, anchor of the historic victory by Canada’s Nations Cup team, won the CDIO3* Grand Prix Freestyle Friday night while team mate Tina Irwin on Laurencio captured the Intermediate Freestyle.
Megan and Caravella that competed for Canada at the 2016 Olympics, the 2014 World Games and the 2015 Pan American Games scored 74.550 per cent for the win.
“I am thrilled,” Megan said. “It’s still a little surreal, and I’m at a loss for words really. I’m so happy! I was happy with the whole test; you have to be on top of your game when you’re competing against riders like this. I’m just really happy with the whole thing.”
Shelly Francis of Loxahatchee, Florida on Doktor was second on 74.075 per cent with Lisa Wilcox of Wellington on Galant third on 73.175 per cent.
Tina Irwin and Laurencio, the highest scoring combination for Canada on the mixed big and small tour team that won the country’s first ever Nations Cup, added to their success by winning the CDIO3* Intermediate I Freestyle on a score of 76.500 per cent.
Jaimey Irwin, her husband, placed second on Donegal V on 73.575 per cent with Esther Mortimer of Guatemala on Adajio third on 70.350 per cent.
