WASHINGTON, Sept. 29, 2016–Three American dressage team riders were among hundreds of Olympians greeted Thursday by President Barack Obama who noted diversity of the United States squad.

“One of the reasons our country’s so proud of this year’s Team USA is: 2016 belonged to America’s women Olympians. I mean, no question,” he said.

American women out-medaled the men 61-55 and out-golded them 27-18, in a Games that gave Team USA its biggest medal haul in a fully contested Olympiad.

Three of the four members of the bronze medal dressage team were women–Kasey Perry-Glass, Allison Brock and Laura Graves with Steffen Peters the fourth rider.
