CEDAR VALLEY, Ontario, June 17, 2016–Megan Lane on Caravella and Chris von Martels on Divertimento logged personal best qualifying Grand Prix scores in the CDI3* Friday but may have fallen short of winning one of the two starts for Canada at the Olympic Games in seven weeks.
In the last CDI in North America before the July 3 deadline, Megan and Caravella scored 71.060 per cent that was enough to place first and to lift the average of four required scores at Grand Prix and the Special to 70.843 and third on the rankings. Friday’s Grand Prix result was their second best ever, the personal best 71.600 per cent was more than a year ago before Olympic qualifying began.
Chris and Divertimento scored 70.200 per cent to place the pair second. The score was also a personal best and edged their four-score average to 70.197 to stand fourth in the Olympic rankings.
Belinda Trussell on Anton tops the leaderboard with 74.263 while Karen Pavicic on Don Daiquiri is second on 71.039. Neither is competing here.
Both Megan on Caravella and Chris on Divertimento have an opportunity to advance their average with results in the Grand Prix Special but Equine Canada confirmed that only two scores can be from the same show.
