DONAUESCHINGEN, Germany, Sept. 19, 2015–Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and Zaire won the CDI4* Grand Prix Saturday with a personal best score for the German combination while Beatrice Buchwald rode Weihegold OLD in the pair’s first CDI Big Tour for runnerup.

Jessica and the 11-year-old KWPN mare that began their Grand Prix career 11 months ago scored 73.880 per cent for the pair’s third straight first placing.

The ride by Beatrice Buchwald, assistant trainer to five-time German Olympian Isabell Werth, was the first CDI Grand Prix for the pair and was awarded 72.780 per cent.

Beatrice and the 10-year-old Oldenburg mare won the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the German championship for seven to nine-year-old dressage horses at Prix St. Georges, in 2013 and a year later captured the Louisdor Prize, the German Young Horse Grand Prix Championship.

Denmark’s Daniel Bachmann-Andersen on Blue Hors Hotline placed third on 72.440 per cent. Daniel, who rode Blue Hors Loxana on the Danish team at the European Championships last month, is among his nation’s riders campaigning to qualify at least three individual combinations for the 2016 Olympic Games to be able to form a team.
