VERDEN, Germany, Aug. 9, 2015–Hubertus Schmidt on Imperio won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special Sunday with the second and third placed Spanish and American combinations joining the German pair in posting personal best scores.
Hubertus, a German Olympic and World Games team rider, and the 12-year-old Trakehner gelding scoring 78.549 per cent that was a personal best for the Special and came a day after the pair that have competed at te Big Tour for almost two years did the same in the Grand Prix.
Claudio Castilla Ruiz of Spain on Alcaide scored 73.902 per cent for second and surpassing their previous best of 70.922 per cent set earlier this year in Barcelona.
America’s Catherine Haddad Staller of Stockton, New Jersey was third on 73.325 per cent, that also eclipsed their previous best of 71.667 set at Cappeln, Germany a year ago. The pair posted a personal best European result in the Grand Prix a day earlier.
Catherine splits her competition schedule between New Jersey, Wellington, Florida in the winter and Europe where she competed on the Big Tour circuit for several years before returning home.
Main Stream Hotmail (Michellino x Havel) was sold to Rowan O’Riley to enable Catherine to continue competing the Oldenburg gelding and has led to success in Europe this year, 12 months ahead of the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
