LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Aug. 13, 2014–Totilas ridden by Matthias Alexander Rath of Germany has moved up to No. 4 in the International Equestrian Federation’s world rankings less than three months after returning to competition following an absence of two years.
Among the biggest moves upward were by the American combinations of Steffen Peters on Legolas to No. 21 from a standing of 102nd a month earlier and Laura Graves on Verdades up to No. 47 from 135th.
Spain’s Jose Daniel Martin Dockx on the American-owned Grandioso vaulted to No. 37 from 244 and Great Britain’s Carl Hester on Nip Tuck climbed to No. 45 from 169.
Great Britain’s Charlotte Dujardin on Valegro remained atop the standings with 3,138 points while Germany’s Helen Langehanenberg on Damon NRW was second with 2,917 points and the Netherlands’ Edward Gal and Glock’s Undercover at No. 3 with 2,682 points, the same order as the previous month.
The ranking of Totilas and Matthias with 2,627 points was up from No. 25 a month earlier and a ranking of 400 in May when the pair returned to the official standings after resuming their competition schedule that was interrupted by injury to the black stallion, now 14 years old, and illness of the rider that kept the pair from the 2012 Olympic Games.
All of these horses have been named to their nation’s teams for the World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France later this month.
