ANKUM, Germany, Dec. 8, 2013–The three-year-old dressage gelding Bluetooth by Bordeaux-Riccione sold for €1 million (US$1.37 million) to the Russian owner of the superstar young horse Sa Coeur at the annual Performance Sales International auction Sunday.
The dark bay gelding was one of 48 dressage and jumping horses sold for a total of €13.2 million (US$18.1 million) at the 34th edition of the world’s premier riding horse auction and which attracted bids from around the globe.
Bluetooth qualified for the German young horse championships with elastic, supple and powerful movement and was described PSI’s Ullrich Kasselmann as “an exceptional horse, simply perfect in all respects, and he has that certain something.”
The youngster was bred by Gestüt Lewitz, the northern Germany breeding operation of PSI’s Paul Schockemöhle, and trained at Ullrich Kasselmann’s Hagen stables.
Bluetooth will move to the stable of Russian Elena Knyaginichev who earlier this year paid €2.3 million (US$3.15 million) for Sa Coeur, the Oldenburg gelding (Sir Donnerhall x Don Davidoff) that was also bred at Gestüt Lewitz. Sa Coeur was World Champion of Young Dressage Horses at both five and six years of age.
The seven-year-old black gelding Lannaro by Larino–Kannan was the top-priced horse at €1.2 million (US$1.64 million) among the 25 jumpers.
