Rafalca, the mare that Jan Ebeling will ride for the United States in Olympic dressage competition starting in less than two weeks has her own line of clothing designed for human supporters with part of the proceeds going to therapeutic riding programs in honor of part-owner Ann Romney.
The line consists of two t-shirts and a baseball cap–all made in the USA–as the official merchandise of Jan of Moorpark, California, and Rafalca who are one of four members of the U.S. dressage squad, three for the team and one individual.
Rafalca has become a pop icon since television comedians, newspapers and magazines around the world began providing extensive coverage of the 15-year-old Oldenburg mare that is owned by a partnership that includes Ann Romney, wife of U.S. Presidential candidate Mitt Romney, Beth Meyer and Amy Ebeling.
Two t-shirts and a hat are priced at $25 (€20) each and are available through www.dressageextensions.com or by phone at 1-800-303-7849
Amy Ebeling, Jan’s wife, said that Jan’s selection to the team has “given us an opportunity to build our business and give back to the riding community and industry.”
A percentage of the proceeds will benefit therapeutic riding, including PATH international, the Denver-based Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship.
