OCALA, Florida, Oct. 15–Mary Cameron Rollins and her Rose Noir 2, who has been on-again, off-again since the pair won gold at the North American Young Rider Championships, won the Region 3 Prix St. Georges Championship Saturday.
Near tears after the victory with a score of 72.368 per cent that gave Mary Cameron, 23, of Wellington, Florida, her first open championship, she said her goal now is the Brentina Cup that woud be “a dream come true.”
Devon Kane also of Wellington on Destiny was second on 72.105 per cent and Anneliese Vogt-Harber on Whenever third on 65.789 per cent. Anneliese on Lauressa also won the First Level Championship with a score of 72.903 per cent.
Devon also won the 3rd Level Championship on Sanchez with a score of 68.462 per cent while Eline Eckroth of the Netherlands on Ukon Rock who won the 2nd Level Championship Friday was second on 67.564 per cent.
Mary Cameron Rollins said that she was surprised and very grateful “to have such a special horse that has been through tremendous ups and downs.”
The 14-year-old Oldenburg–Mary Cameron says she really is 12 because of time off for two years because of an ovarian cyst and food allergies.
“She’s had so many injuries in the past,” she said. I feel lucky to have such a special horse through tremendous ups and down.
“She and I have been through so much together that to do the Brentina Cup would be a dream come true.”
Mary Cameron works mostly with Werner, a Belgian who has had success in U.S. young horse championships, but also with Caroline Roffman who has competed in the Brentina Cup.
