LAUSANNE, Switzerland, Jan. 5–Edward Gal and Moorlands Totilas, whose partnership ended after winning three gold medals at the World Equestrian Games three months ago, are still atop the International Equestrian Federation individual rankings at the start of 2011.
According to the latest rankings, the Dutch combination are No. 1, followed by team mate Adelinde Cornelissen and Jerich Parzival, Great Britain’s triple silver medal pair of Laura Bechtolsheimer and Mistral Hojris in third place, the USA’s Steffen Peters and Ravel fourth and Isabell Werth on Warum Nicht FRH and Satchmo 78 in fifth and sixth places, respectively.
Edward Gal on Sisther de Jeu made the biggest leap in the top 30 ranked combinations, moving to 17th place from 98th as a result of winning the World Cup qualifier in the final dressage competition of 2010, Mechelen, Belgium.
Isabell Werth’s results on El Santo NRW from the Frankfurt World Cup qualifier earlier in December moved that pair to 28th place from No. 67.
The FEI has said a combination is no longer listed after the body is notified of a change in ownership of the horse and that the rider has changed. Totilas was sold more than two months ago to Paul Schockemöhle of Performance Sales International of Germany and Matthias Alexander Rath was named as the new rider but has not yet competed the 11-year-old stallion.
