OTTAWA, Ontario, Mar. 23–Belinda Trussell on Tuesday was been named Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month for January.
Belinda won the Grand Prix Special test scoring 68.292 per cent riding Anton (Antaeus x Melit), a 10-year-old German-bred gelding owned by Robyn Eames, at the at the CDI-W Gold Coast Opener in West Palm Beach, Florida in January.
Riding Anton in only his second season at Grand Prix, Belinda spent the winter training and competing in Florida preparing for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky beginning Sept. 25.
Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian Athlete of the Month is a recognition program that celebrates the achievements of Canadian dressage riders who represent Canada in national and international competition at the FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Advanced, Grand Prix and Young Horses classes.
Red Scarf Equestrian is the sponsor of Dressage Canada Athlete of the Month and provides winners with a gift certificate that can be used toward the purchase of equestrian luggage, travel bags and accessories all made in Canada.
Red Scarf Equestrian Inc. announced Monday it is continuing its sponsorship for a second year of the Dressage Canada Red Scarf Equestrian ‘Athlete of the Month’ for 2010.
Each month, an athlete that represents Canada in national and international competition at the FEI level (which includes FEI Pony, Children, Junior, Young Rider, Young Horse, Advanced, Grand Prix) is chosen based on achievements in the previous month.
