STUTTGART, Germany, Nov. 17, 2019–Isabell Werth and Emilio won the CDI4* Grand Prix Special Sunday, the second victory for the superstar rider in four starts at this premier German Masters tournament.

Isabell and the 13-year-old Westfalen gelding, scored 79.489% for the win after missing out in the CDI4* Grand Prix and the World Cup freestyle in which she competed Weihegold OLD, her Olympic team gold and three-time World Cup champion.

Isabell, ranked No, 9 on Emilio and second on Weihegold (she’s ranked No. 1 on Bella Rose) has not failed to win at least two of the four competitions in the 11 occasions she has competed here since 2007, according to available records. She has been the Freestyle champion nine times and Grand Prix Special champion 16 times since 1985.

Hubertus Schmidt and Escolar posted a personal best score of 77.936% to place second. Hubertus, a 2004 Olympian for Germany, and the 10-year-old Westfalen stallion were performing only their fourth Special to complete the pair’s first year at Grand Prix.

Lisa Müller and Stand by Me OLD that won the Grand Prix were third on 76.553% with fellow Germans Ingrid Klimke on Franziskus fourth on 75.830% and Marcus Hermes on ZINQ Abegglen FH fifth on 75.106%

Great Britain’s Charlotte Fry on Everdale was the highest placed non-German, posting a personal best 73.766% for sixth in the third Grand Prix Special for the duo since beginning Big Tour in May.

Correction: Isabell Werth won the World Cup Grand Prix and the CDI4* Grand Prix Special, and not one competition as previosly reported.
