DONAUESCHINGEN, Germany, Aug. 18, 2018–Isabell Werth qualified Descolari for the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal, the German small tour championships, by winning the St. Georges Special Saturday and a start at the final in Frankfurt in mid-December.
Isabell and the eight-year-old Hanoverian stallion sired by Desperados scored 74.488 per cent for the win in the competition for seven to nine-year-old horses and the 10th of 12 qualifiers.
Isabell has won the Nürnberger Burg-Pokal four times since it was first staged in 1992–in 1995, 1996, 2008 and 2017. Coincidentally, she won the CDI4* Grand Prix on Weihegold OLD Saturday, the horse that Beatrice Buchwald rode to the Burg-Pokal title in 2013. Beatrice worked for Isabell at the time.
Only the winner of each of the qualifying competitions earns a start at the final in Frankfurt, scheduled for Dec. 13-16.
