WELLINGTON, Florida, Feb. 21, 2018–Karen Pavicic, a member of Canada’s 2014 world championship team, had both her horses pass the veterinary check Wednesday to compete for Croatia for the first time.

Both horses were bred in Canada and will compete in their first CDI, at the Adequan Global Dressage Festival. The two horses are:

–Totem, a six-year-old Hanoverian stallion (Totilas x Donnerhall) owned by Jayne Essig and Karen and bred by Patricia Close, and

–Fausto, 10-year-old Hanoverian gelding (Fidertanz x Lady’s King) owned by Laura Penikett and bred by Rayelle Aarbo.

Karen, who has dual citizenship was approved to ride for Croatia a month ago, and will compete Fausto as an amateur in the small tour. International competition rules provide for riders to compete as amateurs as long as they are not on the world rankings. Karen dropped off the world rankings last fall.

She will ride Totem in CDI six-year-old classes.
